homestead.

Our house continues to evolve, and we are far from finished making it our own.  Although this tour is still a cheap one, c’mon in. Make yourself at home.

Living Room
This room was tomato red when we moved into the house, and like most rooms it has received at least two coats of paint since we took over. The paint color now is FootHills by Sherwin Williams. This room is our most lived in, and is constantly changing. Our favorite additions are the green couch, the re-claimed window, the DIY curtains and the re-finished desk that is now used as an entry way piece. We love the bench too!

Dining Room
Even before moving into our home, we had built a piece of furniture for the dining room. See our door turned dining table project here.  We love how that table and the Crate and Barrel pendant light really own the room. What it looked like before all the pretty….

And after.

Kitchen
Our kitchen was previously old, closed in and dark.  Three things you do not want your kitchen to be. See what I mean.

So, we tore it all a part.

You can read about our kitchen remodel process by visiting Kitchen I, Kitchen II and Kitchen III. And a number of other kitchen related posts on rebuilding the sub-floor,  our open shelving, granite and a source list. We think all of our kitchen work (and money) paid off. Here’s the after….

Guest Room + Bath
We have one guest room downstairs. Its claim to fame is the DIY swinging barn door! The headboard came from Antique Avenue, and the bedding is Pottery Barn. Across the hall from this room, is a full bathroom. The bath is not much to look at….yet.

Backyard
Our backyard also got updated after the hail storm. Our deck was completely rebuilt. We’ve put in quite a bit of elbow grease to make our back yard into what it is right now. Check out this flag stone project, and the painted bird house.

The tour continues soon….
